If I hadn’t read your reviews of “the Fighter,” I would think by the lists posted above by all of you guys that you are anti-“sports” movies- you know movies where a man “goes the distance” (excuse the pun from both Field of Dreams and my all time favorite Rocky) with all his heart. I love those movies!!!!! Then again- my guess is you liked some of those movies, maybe even loved ’em, but they just didn’t make the top 5.

Personally, I think these movies are exceptional- if they are done incredibly well like the Natural, or even Rudy (love that this one is “generally” a true story), or Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, and of course Rocky. I even loved the Wrestler (I know I might get some heat for this one.. but I really did love it.) Rocky- for me- HAS to be in the top 5 of all time.

As a gal gotta love a guy who fights with all his might,

I too love all those movies you spoke of but when put side by side with my selections I could not choose otherwise. Rocky was real close but the others, although great are for, sometimes a limited audience. I watch Field of Dreams whenever it comes on and I have seen the first 3 Rocky’s hundreds of times. A funny story regarding Rocky is when my first son was born there was a Rocky marathon on AMC and my wife kept telling me to stop watching,” i’m in labor”, and Ethan was born with Rocky as a backdrop. Thanks for your comment and we look forward to further communication with you.

Thanks for the comment Becky! Truth be told I hate the idea of a “top 5 all time” trying to pick favorites from all the movies I have seen is close to immpossible. We provided the list as way for people to ge to know us and to get an idea of where are preferences lie.
I love most of the films that you mentioned but when I sat down to write my “all-time favorites” I was forced to make some tough choices. If it comes down to a choice between Rocky and Casablanca I will have to take Casablanca every time.
I can’t believe that you thought we would give you heat for naming The Wrestler. I am huge Mickey Rourke fan and I am happy to see him finally have a career again.
