Inside Job

Director: Charles Ferguson
Writer: Chad Beck, Charles Ferguson
Starring: (Narrated by) Matt Damon
Review By: Klash

This film provides a close look at the cause of the 2008 financial crisis which impacted the livelihoods of countless hard working people, and those who were responsible for the mess. Breaking down the situation in a fashion that was fairly easy to follow, the film highlights the details which granted banks the ability to gamble with their customers money while being backed by the government. Throughout the film are many interesting as well as irritating interviews with people on both sides of the fence. Those who tried to warn of the collapse and others who simply went along for the ride and walked away while still prospering from other peoples devastating misfortunes. This film is definitely worth viewing, it provides details which speak for themselves while remaining focused on the topic without taking a particular side and twisting views.

Inside Job is a documentary about the financial crisis that shook the world and its markets.  Director Charles Ferguson tries to unravel the multi layered economic disaster that has gripped the world starting from the bankruptcy of the banks in Iceland to the high risk derivative trading on Wall Street.

The writer and director walk us through the years of deregulation through the Reagan, Clinton, and Bush administrations as many warned of economic doom.  Inside Job does a tremendous job of explaining the truth of what went down by several interviews with economic leaders, CEO’s of the big banks, and economists that tried several times to stop this economic crash from happening.

Ferguson and Beck inform the viewer of the out write gambling that was the housing bubble and explain how it was and is still an ongoing issue to this day. They also explain, at great length, how brokers and big banks such as Lehman Brothers, Citigroup, Bear Stearns, and J.P. Morgan were making billions of dollars while the public lost its retirement and savings account.

Furthermore Inside Job discusses the growth of salaries for bankers and traders and the absurd bonuses handed out by the big banks.

This movie has a lot of information to digest but paints a clear picture of the financial crisis that continues to strangle the world economies. I found it to be disturbing and informative and I was riveted by the amount of fraud and criminal activity these banks got away with at our expense. If you ever wondered what happened to the world economy, watch this and you will not believe your ears.  I give it 2 ½ guys and believe it is a must see.

Inside Job is a documentary about the financial crisis of 2008. It describes, in an easy to understand way, what led up to the crisis. It breaks down the decisions that were made by the government that allowed banks to take big risks with other peoples money. While it worked, everyone made money. When the bubble burst however, millions of people lost their homes and their jobs.

I saw this movie when it was in the theaters and I was happy to get a chance to watch it again before writing this review. This is a movie that everyone should watch. It is an eye opener to what happened, and it still happening, with the finical system in America. The movie is not some left wing, Michael Moore style bash on republicans and conservatives. It points the finger at everyone from the Bush administration to the Clinton’s and straight on through to the current President. It explains how decisions that were made led to a meltdown on a global level.

I am going to keep the review brief because I think the movie speaks for itself. It was the Oscar winner last year for best documentary and an absolute must see. I can’t recommend this one enough.

HBO is also running a movie this month called To Big To Fail that is based on the crisis and it’s a pretty interesting watch if you are looking for more info. You can watch it right now if you have HBO Go. You should also check out the book that the HBO movie is based on, To Big To Fail by Andrew Ross Sorkin. It goes into a lot more detail.
