Battle Los Angeles

Director: Jonathan Liebesman
Writer: Christopher Bertolini
Stars: Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez

This movie was directed by Jonathan Liebesman who is best known for, well, he hasn’t done anything good. This is more of the same mildly entertaining, run of the mill, pg-13 loving, mindless fare that Hollywood has been shoving down our throats for the last few years.

Aaron Eckhart plays aging combat veteran Sgt. Michael Nantz . Nantz is about to retire when he is called into active duty to help save the world from and evil alien horde bent on wiping out the human race and stealing our valuable resources. What? You have heard of this plot line before? That’s because it has been done to death.

The movie does have some good action scenes and some nice tension at points but it’s like bubble gum; it loses its flavor quickly and you are left chewing on something very bland. The best way to describe this film is that it’s like spending two hours watching someone else play a cool video game and its never your turn.

I started watching this film later on in the evening. I was doing the head bob for a little bit and finally fell asleep. I woke up about 20 minutes later and I didn’t feel as though I had missed a thing. It’s that kind of movie.

I am not going to say the movie is unwatchable, it’s the kind of thing you might sit through some Sunday afternoon on TBS and not feel ripped off but, I would not go out of my way to catch this movie.
