Inside Job

Director: Charles Ferguson
Writer: Chad Beck, Charles Ferguson
Starring: Matt Damon (Narrator)
Review By: Griff

Inside Job is a documentary about the financial crisis of 2008. It describes, in an easy to understand way, what led up to the crisis. It breaks down the decisions that were made by the government that allowed banks to take big risks with other peoples money. While it worked, everyone made money. When the bubble burst however, millions of people lost their homes and their jobs.

I saw this movie when it was in the theaters and I was happy to get a chance to watch it again before writing this review. This is a movie that everyone should watch. It is an eye opener to what happened, and it still happening, with the finical system in America. The movie is not some left wing, Michael Moore style bash on republicans and conservatives. It points the finger at everyone from the Bush administration to the Clinton’s and straight on through to the current President. It explains how decisions that were made led to a meltdown on a global level.

I am going to keep the review brief because I think the movie speaks for itself. It was the Oscar winner last year for best documentary and an absolute must see. I can’t recommend this one enough.

HBO is also running a movie this month called To Big To Fail that is based on the crisis and it’s a pretty interesting watch if you are looking for more info. You can watch it right now if you have HBO Go. You should also check out the book that the HBO movie is based on, To Big To Fail by Andrew Ross Sorkin. It goes into a lot more detail.
