Review By: Griff

I have been on a roll of seeing some really good films in the theater lately and Source Code is no exception. This is a surprisingly intelligent sic-fi thriller with some interesting twist.

I don’t want to give too much away so I am going to recap what you can learn from the trailer. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Colter Stevens. A marine who has been enlisted for a special counter terrorist unit of the Government. There is an attack on a commuter train and they send Colter back in time to try and figure out who planted the bomb. The way the technology works Colter only has eight minutes to try and figure out as much as he can. They are in a race against the clock because the same terrorist has threatened to explode a dirty bomb somewhere in downtown Chicago.

There has been a recent crop of movies like this since inception came out and was a success. I liken it to the 80’s when “Platoon” was hit and we were inundated with Vietnam movies. Some of them, while not Platoon, were pretty damn good. If Platoon is Inception then this movie is Hamburger Hill. Definitely worth checking out if you are headed to the local multiplex.
