Love and Other Drugs

Love and Other Drugs

Director: Edward Zwick
Writer: Edward Zwick, Charles Randolph
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway
Review By: Griff

Pretty much every rom com ever made follows the same formula. Two people meet, they get romantically involved, and then something happens that drives them apart. Eventually, one of two people realizes they can’t live without the other one and they confess their true love. Everyone gets back together; all is right in the world. Usually they throw in some annoying friends on either side or both to provide the comic relief.

Love and Other drugs does not stray from the formula above. It is exactly what you expect. There are some decent performances hidden in this movie but, it suffers from a lack luster script and a complete lack of originality. It takes absolutely no risks and is utterly forgettable.  It is the kind of movie a couple of years from now that you will have to look up on google. “What was that movie with Jake Gyllenhall and Anne Hathaway?”  You don’t forget the names of great movies. You should watch one of them instead. Love and Other Drugs gets one guy from me.
